Data Analyst Internship Opportunity

Data Analyst supporting the Wacif Strategic Initiatives team

TITLE: Data Analyst Intern

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Washington Area Community Investment Fund (Wacif) seeks a Data Analyst summer intern to conduct analysis of childcare facility data that has been collected. Wacif will establish a childcare focused capital fund and technical assistance center to address the gap in access to capital as well as business efficiency for childcare centers in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. The Strategic Initiatives team is in the process of conducting research to solidify its strategy, and the intern will support this work.

REPORTS TO: Director of Strategic Initiatives

Responsibilities:

In this role, the intern will:

* Organize and analyze over 4,000 data points across Excel, HubSpot, and our lending system, LoanWell;

* Leverage a combination of machine learning, statistics, and database software systems (i.e.Tableau) to help in data visualization and simplification;

* Create user friendly data decks and data visualizations from the analysis;

* Use data mining to understand and highlight trends and patterns in the data;

* Conduct market research on childcare facilities in Maryland and Virginia;

* Assist in the finalization of a strategy deck.

* Performs other duties that arise as assigned.

Qualifications:

* Undergraduate and graduate students with GPA of 3.0 or above;

* Graduate level preferred or has taken core data analytics classes;

* Data analytics and data visualization skills;

* Advanced Excel skills;

* Detail-orientated and strong organizational skills

* Proven analytical skills, excellent written and oral communication abilities;

* Ability to identify and resolve problems and gather and analyze information skillfully.

* Must be available to participate in the intern program from June to August;

* Access to personal laptop.

Details

* Internship Timeframe: June 1, 2022 through August 31, 2022

o Minimum of 6 and maximum of 10 weeks

o 35 - 40 hours a week

o Opportunity to shift from a full-time summer internship to a part-time fall internship (15-20 hours per week);

* $17 - $19.50 per hour, depending on experience level;

* Wacif provides a flexible and hybrid working environment with the opportunity to work remotely.
