Job Description

Position Purpose: To provide leadership, oversight, coordination, management support and technical expertise for all projects to include: safety, operations, P&L, planning, scheduling, cost monitoring, cost reporting, customer reporting, performance tracking, budgeting, estimating, change orders, billing, marketing, staff development, business development and bid development associated with utility construction.

Essential Responsibilities

* Lead: Ability to influence and support a team in an effective method to accomplish goals or tasks assigned by the customer or senior management

* Team: Employee must be able to function in a team environment always working for the greater good of the customer, division, company, and parent company over one's own needs and desires

* Develop: Desire, patience, and ability to train and promote others with the understanding our job is to develop the next generation of MJE employees. In doing so, evaluating, coaching, and providing feedback routinely and often

* Work closely with Project Managers and customers to assure crews and contractors are coordinated to work efficiently and meet contracting requirements, budgets, forecasts and schedules. Ensures that barriers to construction progress are removed in a timely manner

* Demonstrate safety leadership by supporting the implementation and management of the MJE Safety Management System

* Assist Project Managers with project scope development and project authorization through completion

* Ensure that MJE Senior Management is kept current on the progress of construction projects, business opportunities and industry trends

* Systematically and regularly appraise and evaluate project progress against established goals, timelines and objectives. Provide assistance to Project Managers to correct deficiencies in these areas

* Promote and develop common systems and processes to provide for proper accounting, reporting of project costs, customer billing, scheduling, material procurement, record keeping, documentation and budgeting by Project Managers

* Interface with key customers to ensure that construction activities in affected areas are communicated and understood

* Coordinates and directs the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts, institutes and maintains other planning and control procedures (including the cost accounting system) and analyzes and reports variances.

Knowledge | Skills | Abilities

* Extensive project management skills with a track record of achievement of complex projects.

* Ability to analyze complex information and formulate decisions.

* Knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting methods

* Ability to provide oversight to numerous projects throughout a large geographic area

Qualifications

* Extensive (5+ years') utility construction experience.

* Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, Accounting or Business Administration or applicable work experience,

* Extensive knowledge of business, financial, and project management principles and practices.

* Ability to understand workflow, identify process improvements, summarize issues, and make recommendations to management.

* Proven leadership, interpersonal, and relationship building skills.

* Strong communication, time management, and facilitation skills.

* Ability to take initiative, own tasks, and be flexible regarding changing priorities.

* Ability to strategically think through initiatives, issues, and opportunities while contemplating unintended consequences.

* Ability to anticipate and meet internal customer needs.

* Functional computer skills including familiarity with Adobe, Primavera and Microsoft Office programs

Work Environment

* Must be able to remain standing approximately 50% of the time

* Occasional bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, climbing

* The person in this position frequently communicates with employees and vendors and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations

* Occasionally works in outdoor weather conditions

* Occasionally lifting 40 pounds

* Occasional overnight travel is required
