Overview

TRC is seeking a Construction Operations Director based in Nashville, TN.


Responsibilities

Your role as the Manager/Director will both utilize and expand your talents to provide project management and oversight of INF projects as well as supervision of the INF department. In addition to your daily responsibilities, you will have the opportunity to create lasting relationships with our diverse team and directly contribute to our path to becoming the most sought after, respected, and successful engineering firm in the country. On a typical day, you will apply your skills to the following:

  • Working knowledge of transportation processes and policies.
  • Understand what projects are in the pipeline and positioning us to be a player on these projects.
  • Participate in professional organizations.
  • Communicate with peers on teaming arrangements.
  • Visit INF projects as needed to ensure staff needs are met and maintaining relationships with client representation on site.
  • Ensure technicians are competent, reporting data correctly, aware of site activities, and are coordinating properly.
  • Attend project meetings and troubleshoot problems, as required.
  • Communicate and coordinate with the PM's, superintendents, or appropriate person, as required.
  • Recap project data and prepare reports for summary letters for each project.
  • Perform business development duties.
  • Communicate verbally and electronically with various clients, field personnel and colleagues.
  • Approve weekly timesheets and department expense reports.
  • Participate in the invoices process.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Working Conditions - Physical Requirements:

  • Office work requiring long-term sitting and computer work.
  • Some weekend and overtime work and/or overnight work and travel may be required.

Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong computer and math skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Operational and project management experience.
  • Experience in overseeing and managing.
  • Ability to evaluate -Request for Proposals-, attend site meetings or converse with potential clients to develop a scope of services and associated cost estimate.
  • Proven experience in operational strategic planning and development, project management and policy development.
  • Knowledge of business theory, business processes, management, budgeting, and office operations.
  • Understand companies- goal and objectives and execute accordingly.
  • Understanding of human resource management principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Strong leadership skills; strong and proven work ethic.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proven success through references, accomplishments, and credentials.
  • Ability to analyze and correct operational issues.
  • Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language.
  • Highly self-motivated, self-directed, and attentive to detail.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Experience working on a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks at a time.
  • Proactive problem solver.
  • Must enjoy being part of a team, have a -can do- positive attitude and be confidential with all matters.
  • Ability to work and interact with hands-on level to interactions with senior management.
  • Ability to thrive and function in the ever-changing environment of a growing company.

Qualifications (Required unless otherwise noted):

  • Must be at least 18 years old for entry onto job sites and to drive a company vehicle.
  • Valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record.
  • Preferred but not required: 4-year degree from an accredited university with a focus in Civil Engineering or relevant field of study.
  • 10 years of field experience.
  • Engineering Intern (EI) Certification or Professional Engineer (PE), preferred.
  • Prior experience as a field/engineering technician, construction, or related experience.
  • Familiarity with construction materials testing (CMT).
  • Strong written and verbal communication and ability to use technology/computer.
