Director, Clinical Risk Management Operations (Enterprise) - Remote Opportunity

Reports to: Vice President Clinical Risk Management Operations (Enterprise)

Exempt or Non-Exempt: Exempt

JOB SUMMARY:

The Director of Clinical Risk Management Operations (Enterprise) is an integral member of our Enterprise Clinical Risk Management Operations Team, and serves as a consultative resource in the area of clinical risk management compliance while providing accountability and oversight in clinical risk management and claims activities. This qualified leader will maintain interprofessional and collaborative relationships with associates and leaders across the Surgery Partners Enterprise.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Coordinate and Lead efforts across the Surgery Partners Enterprise to eliminate harm, risk, and/or loss. Activities will incident reporting, adverse event investigation and management, healthcare risk management & claims education | training and participation on the Enterprise Culture of Safety Steering Committee.
  • Engage team members at the facility | regional | corporate level(s) evaluate incidents and assist in investigation to mitigate harm and exposure to the Organization.
  • Negotiation of small claims settlements.
  • Assists in completing necessary legal documents related to claims.
  • Managing costs and effectiveness of outside counsel resources assigned to respond to claims or issues.
  • Participation with management in the review of insurance coverage.
  • Interfacing with brokers, insurance carriers, and others regarding insurance renewal and option for coverage.
  • Researching and communicating trends in industry regarding liability or risk.
  • Developing risk reduction strategies and objectives through collaboration with facilities, insurers, and Company leadership.
  • Traveling to conduct On-Site Facility Level Culture of Safety Assessments, On-Site Facility Level Risk Assessments, Risk Training, and/or provide risk management consultation as needed.
  • Providing support in the management of patient complaints and grievances across the Enterprise
  • Lead and Facilitate training in proactive and retrospective risk assessments as needed (i.e. Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA), Common Cause Analysis (CCA), Strength, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threat Analysis (SWOT) and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) as needed.
  • Maintains standard reports and generates new reports based on requests and prepares presentations as needed for leadership and training.
  • Assists with the overall management and training of the RLDATIX Risk/Safety Event Reporting Platform and Collaborate with IT to manage security upgrades as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Licensure: State licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse, Registered Professional Nurse or Healthcare related field
  • Knowledge: Healthcare industry operations; local, state and federal healthcare regulations; patient and employee safety in the hospital and ambulatory surgical setting, policy/procedure development, information systems, quality and | or performance improvement.
  • Education Requirements: Completion of practical nursing program, Associates Degree in Nursing or Healthcare related field required; Bachelors or Masters' Degree in Nursing or Healthcare related field preferred.
  • Professional Experience-- Minimum of five years (5) years' experience in an acute care setting with experience in patient safety | risk management, policy and procedure development, information systems, quality and performance improvement.
  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience in Healthcare Risk Management preferred.
  • Special Skills or Abilities-Maintains knowledge of applicable regulatory and accreditation standards; attends meetings, conferences, seminars, etc. and completes applicable reading to remain current on risk management and related clinical information. Proven computer experience with most current databases and software applications needed to perform the essential duties of the job position; Solid background in facilitation skills, process analysis tools, and demonstrated effective verbal and written communication and organizational skills
  • Certifications-Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management preferred.
  • Working Conditions-Remote | Home Office and Must be able to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Schedule-Monday thru Friday with occasional weekends.
  • Travel-Yes (approximately 25%)
  • Key Relationships-Hospital, Ambulatory Surgery Center Associates, Facility Leaders, Regional Level Leaders, and Executive Leaders
