The Design Technology Specialist lives in the design technology arm of the practice leadership of Gresham Smith. This group advises the practice leaders on the capabilities needed to advance their agenda for the practice. Develops, implements and operates systems in support of our professional design and production services. This position requires a dynamic individual with excellent communication skills and an understanding of customer service. This position will be providing support for the members of our firm who produce our product and will strive for excellence in the customer deliverable and support of our staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Research and evaluate emerging trends in the AEC industry - whether it be new software, new design process trends or another new technology that aids in development of our deliverable
  • Educate/mentor staff on software and trends with a constant focus on routine, effective communication with the end users and developing a feedback loop for proper two-way interaction
  • Establish Documented processes, procedures, and workflows and/or seek to improve those that already exist
  • Research Interoperability of BIM and design/engineering tools to enhance productivity
  • Coaching and Developing: Conducting Technical Training of users on Software, processes, and procedures
  • Technical Writing of Training materials, processes, and procedures
  • Diagnose and resolve technical software issues
  • Work as part of a BIM/CAD support team to achieve consistent, best-practice driven results
  • Content creation: Develop Families such as parametric, formula, nested and type catalogs
  • Knowledge of programming languages: Dynamo, Python, HTML, Java script

Minimum Requirements:

  • Associate's degree in Architecture or Engineering; prefer a Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum of 10 years of job-related experience required using Autodesk software; Prefer experience in training and desktop support for enterprise software systems
  • Knowledge of standard office practices and procedures. Knowledge of standard operations, policies and procedures of a Firm within the A/E industry.
  • Superior analytical, evaluative and problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to apply technical solutions to business problems.
  • Solid understanding of computer system characteristics, features and integration capabilities.
  • Extensive knowledge of CADD/BIM Technologies as well as other analytical and design software applications.
  • In-depth knowledge of applicable laws and regulations as they relate to technology issues.
