Job Summary

The Coordinator of Internship and Field Experience Programs supports the development and implementation of new and existing high impact experiential learning programs, with special emphasis on expanding and enhancing the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences' (SBS) signature "SBS in..." cohort model program.

Essential Functions

  • Collaborates with internal academic partners and external partners to increase participation and opportunities for SBS students to engage in internships through formal and informal programming. In coordination with the Director of SBS High Impact Practice Initiatives, creates connections and opportunities for new programming.
  • Develops recruitment materials, including social media, printed material, web content, for "SBS in" programs. Hosts info sessions and drop-in hours, arranges class presentations, and reaches out to campus partners to publicize programming.
  • Supports students during the application, selection, and enrollment processes for "SBS in..." programs, including but not limited to assistance with application materials, interviews, connections with partner organizations, and other key program pieces. Coordinates the application and selection of participants with selection committee.
  • Liaises with internship host sites throughout the application process to provide information and materials needed. Provides ongoing guidance for students enrolled in "SBS in" programs, acting as a liaison and emergency contact for students and/or partner institutions. Acts as a point person for all "SBS in" related inquiries.
  • Streamlines systems and approaches regarding programming, events, communications, and mentorship with alumni in conjunction with SBS Development Team and Alumni Relations office. Supports the Director in creating annual reports and provides stewardship information to relevant parties.
  • Develops and manages efficient systems and processes that will support growth, build more synchronized internship and employment recruitment pathways, and capture enhanced data, metrics, and impact.
  • Works with university systems to ensure credit, billing, financial aid, scholarships, course creation, adjunct and staff hiring, legal compliance, and registration processes are established and working within the parameters of the programs and university guidelines.
  • Coordinates contracts and MOUs with partner organizations, such as The Washington Center (TWC), Washington Intern Student Housing (WISH), Mount Ida, and others.
  • Helps identify areas of growth and expansion for the "SBS in" brand (e.g., "SBS in NYC", "SBS in the Valley", etc.).
  • Assists with conducting comparative research of existing programs, opportunities, and new markets, as well as potential partners in new program locations. Supports the Director of High Impact Practice Initiatives in designing and developing program proposals aligned with SBS Pathways model.
  • Liaises with the SBS Communications Team to craft college and campus-wide media around SBS in... programs, and with the SBS Development Team to convey relevant program-related opportunities.
  • Works with appropriate parties to identify funding and grant opportunities.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure)

  • Bachelor's degree. Experience not required.
  • Excellent organizational skills, independent judgement, and attention to detail; ability to prioritize and manage several projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to lead and interact effectively, work productively, and maintain professional and harmonious working relationships with a diverse population of stakeholders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to credibly and authoritatively communicate with faculty, staff, administration, and external constituents via phone, email and in person.
  • Intermediate proficiency working with Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and Zoom. Willingness and ability to learn new technological skills as the need arises.
  • Ability to think creatively, problem-solve, and elicit cooperation from multiple offices and institutions, and build bridges. Ability to improve processes for optimized outcomes.

Preferred Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure)

  • One year of experience in program/project management and/or administrative support.
  • Ability to interact and connect with Gen Z across multiple channels.
  • Proficiency with social media usage (e.g., Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, etc.) to support communications efforts.
  • Knowledge of or experience in at least one of the "SBS in" markets (Washington DC, New York City, Boston, etc.) preferred.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions

  • Typical office work environment.
  • This position has the opportunity for a hybrid work schedule, which is defined by the University as an arrangement where an employee's work is regularly performed at a location other than the campus workspace for a portion of the week. As this position falls within the Professional Staff Union, it is subject to the terms and conditions of the Professional Staff Union collective bargaining agreement.

Additional Details

  • Required to travel occasionally (locally or nationally) in support of events or initiatives.

Work Schedule

  • Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm.
  • Occasional night or weekend hours may be required.

  • Level 25
