Description

Job summary:

The Controller ensures the accuracy and timeliness of the financial statements of PopHealthCare in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles as well as the oversight of those areas/processes contributing to the accuracy of the financial statements. The Controller is responsible for implementing, documenting and maintaining effective processes to improve the financial close and reporting processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting of results.

Position Essential Functions:

  • Maintains general ledger and accounting records
  • Manage the monthly financial close process, including ensuring all costs incurred are properly recorded, reviewing journal entries, account balance reconciliations and report preparation
  • Participate in the ongoing development/establishment of accounting policies and procedures and operational strategies including the review and implementation of process and system changes
  • Interacts at all levels and with budget owners or other stakeholders to produce timely, efficient and accurate month-end close and all internal management and financial reporting through annual report
  • Responsible for hierarchy and scalability in chart of accounts and accuracy in the general ledger and financial statements and has ultimate authority over classification and booking of all transactions
  • Analyze the effect of statutory accounting practices and studies regulations and guidance to ensure correct application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Prepare detailed journal entries and account analyses
  • Prepares financial statements
  • Reviews and is responsible for tax compliance, as assigned
  • Performs internal audits including review of accounting and administrative controls.
  • Responsible for controls over financial systems and development of procedures to improve existing systems
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial reporting requirements.
  • Direct financial audits and provide recommendations for procedural improvements.
  • Responsible for overseeing payroll function
  • Responsible for overseeing accounts payable functions
  • Responsible for continuous improvement in accounting processes and controls
  • Accountable for daily cash flash, banking relationships and capital contribution analysis
  • Responsible for corporate entity structure
  • Works with parent company accounting team to meet month-end close deadlines and other corporate requirements for reporting
  • Performs special projects as required by the CFO
Qualifications

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree in finance or accounting required.
  • MBA and/or CPA required
  • Preferred Healthcare/provider experience, including experience with accounting for value-based contracts
  • 10+ years of experience as Controller, Director or Manager of Accounting in entrepreneurial growth-oriented companies
  • Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems.
  • Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations
  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections
